I mow about 1 acre total of non-irrigated weeds on hilly rough terrain. I beat this mower up year after year and it's never failed to start right up and offer up plenty of power through tall grass. This year (2010) during the first mowing of the season I ran over a small tree stump and bent the crankshaft, even doing the work myself it will probably be too expensive to justify repairing a 7 year old mower but I will definitely replace it with the same thing when I get a new one.
6/11/2010 Follow-up: I was able to find a crankshaft online inexpensively which allowed me to try to do the repair myself. I am happy to report that the mower re-build project was a success and my Honda engine is purring along happily once again, may I get many more seasons of use from this very durable lawn mower. Hagan (Chattanooga, TN) This review is from: Husqvarna 7021P 21-Inch 160cc Honda GCV Gas-Powered Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio) As a note I've only owned this mower for a week now. I've mowed our acres of grass and tall weeds and it works as advertised. It's lightweight and it powers thru most everything. The mower starts the first pull every time and it takes hardly any effort to pull the cord. The double ball bearing wheels are smooth and they seem sturdy. The high rear wheels are nice as well. The breakdown of the handle for storage purposes is great as well and it's a hard feature to find.
We have no plans of using the bag and we've mulched everything so far. The only clumps of grass created are where the grass is extra tall and it's wet down low. We plan on mowing everything at the highest setting available.
All in all we looked at everything under $300 and this was the best we could find. We've had a self propelled and never again. This mower is very easy to push and it's more comfortable to go at your own pace. The mower is very easy to maneuver in tight spaces as well. We have very rolling terrain and while it's a decent exercise it's nothing overly strenuous. It takes us about 4 hours to cut the entire acres.
Other models that we shopped for were cub cadet, toro, honda, craftsman, and john deere. Also, our last mower, a self propelled Honda had the exact same engine and we've had it, and abused it, now for over 10 years. The engine is the best thing on that mower and I'm happy that my new husqvarna seems to have the exact same engine. Best of luck and should things change I'll report back. Lots of heavy duty weeds. If I can keep them mowed, no problem. However, my 15 year old gas powered mower finally bit the dust this year. I attempted to fix it, but metal parts kept falling off. (I have lived here 3 years.) So, from past experience, I decided to just buy a brand new lawn mower. Of all the mowers I looked at, most of the ones I wanted were way over-priced for my budget. It was almost by accident that I found the Husqvarna mower. I'd never heard of the company, but I looked it up on the web and it seemed to have good credentials. Lots of people know about their chainsaws. The saleslady was very knowledgeable. The price was right. I liked the idea of the Honda engine, the larger rear wheels, the mulching vs rear bagging, vs side shooting options. I was very careful to read the instructions when I got the mower home. It even has a gas line that shuts off. The choke is great.. just slide the lever and pull the cord. No problem. The blades are nice and sharp. I started out at the tallest setting I could since the weeds had, by now, invaded the back yard. I got about 1/2 way through that first night before it got too dark to see. The second time, I continued on with the tall weeds removal. No problem. Since I had MOST of the tall weeds defeated, I decided to go back over the lawn with a lower blade setting. The mower was doing GREAT!! I was so thrilled I'd made this purchase!! I got about 1/10 of the yard mowed when I heard a metallic CLANG sound. I pulled up on the mower, thinking I had inadvertentaly mowed over something. I couldn't see anything so I started mowing, again. Same thing. I shut off the mower and tipped it up enough so I could see the underside of the mower deck. The blades looked fine. Then I saw that a metal strip at the front of the mower, underneath the deck, had come off on one side and it was rubbing against the mower blades. SIGH. Since I have only had the mower a couple of weeks.. and since it had a 2 year warranty .. I am hoping to get the part welded back on so it will stay there for eternity!! But, even though (knock on wood) the engine seems to be doing very well, I hope the rest of the mower doesn't fall apart whenever I attempt to mow my lawn. I noticed they didn't say WHERE the mower, itself, was made. The Honda engine is made in Canada. I'll report back if/after the mower is repaired and remark as to whether or not this was just a freak thing. Maybe I should buy a couple of goats. Was this review helpful to you? The ONLY complaint I have, and I think it can be overcome, is that the pull cord is on the right side of the handle and I am left-handed. I tried to start it last weekend and wrenched my back. But, the fixture that holds the cord in place can be moved to the left side which I will try to do. It is a great mower. I hope to use it (or have someone use it) for a long time. With a little more then 3 hours break-in time on the Honda Engine , I think it's safe to say that I got a good one. I love the sound (tone) of the engine, you can tell it's a Honda ;-)
I had some deep grass to mow due to the failure of my 25 year old 5 hp Tecumseh mower RIP (served me well).
Anyhow, this Husqvarna 7021P is a serious lawn mower, for anyone that likes high performance equipment. I was very impressed with the power. The dual bearing wheels made pushing a breeze. That is my first impression. Should I have any trouble, I will be sure to post a follow-up... "No News is Good News"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!20 HOUR UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
20 hour update!
This mower has started first pull, that includes at least a dozen times showing friends and family how easy it starts. The mower pushes nice and easy, thanks to the dual bearing wheels. The mower runs almost 2 hrs each time it is used. One thing I would like to mention is this was purchased assembled "ready to mow".
I would hardly think it would be hard to assemble, but, some people are plain stupid (present reader excluded) lol. I would recommended this mower to the highest level.
Should I have any trouble, I will be sure to post a follow-up... "No News is Good News"

Who knows where these are made, November 15, 2010 By Mark Williams (San Diego, CA) This review is from: Husqvarna 7021P 21-Inch 160cc Honda GCV Gas-Powered Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio) Husqvarna makes Craftsman mowers, just like Black and Decker makes DeWalt tools. While it might seem reasonable to expect that the quality of Husqvarna's own branded products are a cut higher than Ctaftsman products - which have quite a few issues - it's difficult to analyze what parts they share. Sears sells a lot of mowers, so naturally with high volume comes more complaints. I know that when I have brought back to Sears Craftsman mowers with issues within 30 days, they readily accepted them back. They were not at all surprised with quality issues. In fact, they use those issues to sell their 3 yr. Extended Service plans which add another $80 to the final cost. The Sears 2010 version of this particular model mower being reviewed is equipped with a Kohler 173cc/7.0 torque motor made in China. That shows you the direction that Husky is taking for quality: outsource for lower price points and - probably - lower quality. The two year limited warranty ( manufacturer defects only) on Husky mowers is only for residential use. It is only 90 days if used commercially. I suppose the curious issue is whether the OEM Honda engines are the same quality as those used for its own products. Was this review helpful to you? YesNo Report abuse | Permalink Comment Comment
Great for using for my company, October 22, 2010 By S. Metzger (wisconsin) This review is from: Husqvarna 7021P 21-Inch 160cc Honda GCV Gas-Powered Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio) I own a small lawn care company with 147 customers. I purchased two of these mowers. They work great! We use these over the lawnboy and snapper mowers. My employees flip coins to see who gets to use these mowers. Had a tire break once but what do you expect? Was this review helpful to you? YesNo Report abuse | Permalink Comment Comment
2 of 8 people found the following review helpful: Worst Product Ever, May 9, 2010 This review is from: Husqvarna 7021P 21-Inch 160cc Honda GCV Gas-Powered Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio) I have owned this mower for 2 years. Its the worst piece of junk ever. It never starts right up, NEVER. I am trying to start it right now after sitting for the winter and after 30 minutes and 100+ pulls it still wont start. The cord is too short so its always stretching in too far every time you pull it. So the cord broke right off in the first summer I had it. It was probably within the first 10 times of using it. If I could pick this thing up and spike it into the ground like a football I would do it repeatedly.
Consider suicide before adding this junk to your life - and all the terrible frustrations it brings with it.

Impson "Woodworker" (Tennessee) This review is from: Husqvarna 7021P 21-Inch 160cc Honda GCV Gas-Powered Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio) I have the 62522FE, but I suspect that many of the new push mowers don't have throttles on them. They have some kind of governor that controls the speed. I want a mower that I can make idle when I'm mowing around bushes and trees where the grass is then. Otherwise the mower will stir up too much dust. Give me my throttle! I have enough problems with allergies. Was this review helpful to you? YesNo Report abuse | Permalink Comment Comment
